Absa Group Limited is a major south african financial services group that is a subsidiary of Barclays Bank PLC which has a majority equity stake. Barclays is a major global financial services company that his history tracing back to 1690 in London.

ABSA or Amalgamated Banks of South Africa Limited was formed in 1991 through the merger of UBS Holdings, the Allied and Volkskas Groups as well as Sage Group. It offers products and services in assurance, wealth management and banking (ABSA Bank).

It is currently listed on the JSE or Johannesburg Stock Exchange with its operations currently conducted primarily in South Africa however it has equity stakes in other banks in Mozambique and Tanzania.

Its term deposit products for individual consumers include notice deposits and fixed deposits.
